Crafting tastiness

Dear Shayne,

This is what Bill and I "crafted" together last week:
Mmm... pizza!

Believe it or not, it's not completely terrible for us, but it tasted delicious! We used a whole wheat Boboli crust (shockingly, it did not taste like cardboard), low-sodium marinara sauce, part-skim cheese, and turkey sausage. Considering pizza usually means greasy delivery for us (mmm... grease), this is a step in the right direction.

Oh, yeah -- and Bill grilled it, which definitely adds to the awesome tastiness of it. (Food goes into the backyard and dinner comes back in! It's magic!)

I'm sure it would be even better for us if I could stand to put some veggies on there, but ugh. Veggies on pizza = no good (to me). Eating healthy is a long and winding road. But if there are occasional pizzas along the way, I'll keep trying.

love,
kelly

ZOMG!

It is 10 pm and I. WANT. PIZZA.

I am not, of course, going to indulge that craving right before bed...but will it make you feel impressed/creeped out to know that I will be dreaming about this pizza tonight?

Grilled pizza tastes a lot like "brick oven" style pizza you can get at some pizzerias. In our house, we use the grill about 100x as often as we use the stove/oven.

Sweet dreams, Dawn!

Oh yum. I love grilled foods. Once my friend grilled me a peach cobbler. It was amazing

Mmmm... grilled peach cobbler sounds fantastic! We grill everything -- we should try that sometime.

Here is a question for you: do you stick the pizza straight onto the grill? Or do you guys use one of those fancy iron pizza pans for the BBQ?

Dawn -- We use a double layer of non-stick foil. (That stuff is great -- have you tried it?) I don't know if you have to use non-stick (we found the recipe online and that person just said "foil"), but it certainly helps when the cheese melts on it.

Bill was a little disappointed that the edges seemed a bit burned, but we also put it on High, so I'm wondering if a little less heat would help. (Side note: even with the burned edge, it was still great!)

Of course, we're gadget freaks, so the immediate household response to the burned edge was, "We need a pizza stone!"

We may get one yet, but for now... foil!
