Sweet little fabric flower

Dear Shayne,

I hope you like flowers, because I'll be posting quite a few in upcoming months. I am wacky and have decided to try handcrafting my wedding bouquet, so I need to start practicing.

Here is one I whipped up last night just to try out the pattern. I think it came out great!
Fabric flower

I made it using this fantastic tutorial from Wise Craft. She's a crafty goddess and also seems like a very sweet person, which is always a bonus. If you haven't checked out her blog, you really should.

She used a fabric covered button in the center, but I didn't have the energy to make one for my practice flower, so I used a regular ol' button. I still think it's cute, but I'll probably try a covered button on the next one.

Oh, and here is Kaesea wearing it as a hat. You know, for scale:
Also a hat for Kaesea

(Do I have an awesome kitty, or what?)

love,
kelly

Gorgeous!!! I can't wait to see what else you make!

And thanks for the Kasea pic - I love him! He is soooo handsome.

cute! i love that fabric too. will you use something like that or something fluttery and chiffon-y for a wedding bouquet?

Ren, I'm not sure yet. I'm in the early planning stages. It depends on what I need to balance out the bouquet, I think.

I'm trying to make sure it's not too heavy (esp. if I include some felt flowers), so a fluttery/chiffon-y choice will definitely come into play at some point.

ooh, the flower is super cute! i really like the fabric - was it printed like that, or did you print it?

it would be really neat to use iron on transfers to print the fabric first with words that have meaning for you two. are you writing your own vows? you could even print them on the flowers!

Amy -- The fabric was already printed like that. I think I was inspired by the fabric choice in the original tutorial (she used a sort of newspaper print fabric).

But I really like your idea a *lot*. I'm not sure if we're writing our own vows yet, but that's a great idea if we do. (Even if we don't, I'm sure I can think of sweet things to print on there.)

I even have some printable fabric, which I have not experimented with at all. Perhaps I should try that out! (If I do, you'll surely see it here...)

ooh, i've never tried the printable fabric! i'd love to hear what you think of it. i really really love my avery iron on transfers, so i've never bothered to try anything else!

also, i got so distracted by the crafting that i forgot to comment on the kitty (blasphemy!). so cute! aw! she's got beautiful eyes, and i'm so impressed that you got her to stand still with a flower on her head for a picture - none of mine would do that!

That's the prettiest cat in the world.. and the flower is gorgeous too!

We should just turn this into an all-cat blog, shouldn't we? ;)

(At the very least, more cat + craft photos -- I'll work on that.)

Amy -- I'll let you know how the printable fabric works out. As for Kaesea letting me put a flower on his head... he's an easy-going fellow, so he just lays around while I do such things. Biscuit, on the other hand (the crazy cat in my avatar here) would *never* allow it. So we've got both kinds around here. :)

Maybe Kasea could please be in every picture?
